A modular system for the Switch 2. Comfort, color, carry, and power.

Get a Grip: Genki Wants to Save Your Hands from the Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch 2 has arrived with a bigger screen and more power, but it brought an old enemy along with it: hand cramps. Flat consoles are great for portability but terrible for ergonomics. Human Things, the team behind the popular Genki Covert Dock and ShadowCast, is back to solve this pain point with Genki Grips, a fully modular system designed to make your handheld sessions actually comfortable.
Project Overview
Name and Creator: Genki Grips: Made to be Held by Human Things.
What It Is: Genki Grips is a customizable, modular grip ecosystem built specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. Unlike standard one-size-fits-all cases, this system lets you swap out different backplates and handle shapes to match your hand size and play style. It combines protection, ergonomics, and power expansion into a single "snap-on" kit.
Key Features
Three Grip Sizes: The kit includes three distinct profiles to suit different needs:
Feather: A slim, low-profile grip designed for maximum portability and travel.
Balance: The "Goldilocks" option that provides standard ergonomic support for most hand sizes.
Anchor: A large, pro-style grip that mimics the feel of a full-sized controller for competitive gaming.
Modular Shells: You can choose between a "Solid" shell for maximum rigidity or a "Split" shell that allows you to detach the Joy-Cons without removing the case.
Dockable Design: The system is engineered to be thin enough to slide directly into the official Switch 2 dock, so you never have to peel off the case to charge or play on the TV.
Magnetic Expansion: The back of the case features a "MagSafe-style" magnetic ring. This allows you to snap on accessories like the Energy Pack (a 10,000mAh battery) or a kickstand without dealing with messy cables or clips.
Delta Handles: For those who want even more control, the system supports "Delta" attachments that change the angle of your wrist to reduce fatigue.
Rewards
Kickstarter Pricing:
Starter Kit: Backers can jump in for approximately $45 to get the base shell and a set of grips.
All-In Bundle: For around $99, you can secure the entire ecosystem, including all grip sizes, both shell types, and the carrying case.
Add-Ons: Optional extras include the magnetic Energy Pack, a "Find My" compatible tracker, and tempered glass screen protectors.
Campaign Status: The project launched in January 2026 and smashed its funding goal in the first 24 hours. It is scheduled to end on February 14, 2026.
Delivery: Shipping is estimated to begin in March 2026.
Concept
The core concept is "Adaptive Ergonomics." Human Things realized that "comfortable" means something different to a child than it does to an adult with large hands. Instead of forcing everyone to use the same shape, Genki Grips allows the hardware to adapt to the human, rather than the other way around. It effectively turns the Switch 2 into a shape-shifting console that changes based on whether you are on a plane, on the couch, or in a tournament.
Inspiration
The inspiration for Genki Grips came from the team's previous attempt at a case, the "Attack Vector." While ambitious, user feedback highlighted that it didn't fit everyone perfectly and had issues with button accessibility. The team took that criticism to heart, spending six months prototyping and testing with gamers around the world. They wanted to build a redemption product that didn't just fix the old flaws but set a new standard for what a gaming case could be.
