Desktop Power in a Tablet: OneXPlayer Super X Redefines the 2-in-1
For years, the "gaming tablet" market has been dominated by a single player, but that monopoly is about to end. OneXPlayer has launched a campaign for the Super X, a 3-in-1 device that aims to crush the competition with raw power. By leveraging AMD's latest Strix Halo architecture and a stunning OLED display, the Super X promises to be the most powerful handheld tablet PC ever made.
Project Overview
Name and Creator: OneXPlayer Super X by OneXPlayer.
What It Is: The Super X is a high-performance 2-in-1 tablet that transforms into a full gaming laptop or a desktop replacement. It features a detachable magnetic keyboard and a built-in kickstand. Under the hood, it packs the massive AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, capable of delivering desktop-class performance in a chassis that is only 13mm thick.
Key Features
Strix Halo Power: At its core lies the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (or the Max 385 in the base model). These are not standard mobile chips; they feature up to 16 cores and 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units, rivalling the graphical power of discrete GPUs like the RTX 4060.
OLED Visuals: The device sports a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This offers true blacks, vibrant colors, and near-instant response times, a significant upgrade over the IPS panels found in competitors.
Liquid Cooling Option: In a first for this form factor, OneXPlayer offers a "Liquid-Cooled Edition." This version includes a proprietary port that connects to an external dock (the Frost Bay), allowing the system to push its Thermal Design Power (TDP) up to a staggering 120W without overheating.
Massive Memory: To feed the AI capabilities and integrated graphics, the Super X can be configured with up to 128GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at 8000MHz.
Connectivity: It includes dual USB4 ports, HDMI 2.1, and a unique dual-SSD setup (one standard M.2 2280 slot and one mini SSD slot) for expanded storage.
Rewards
Kickstarter Pricing:
Base Model: The entry-level version with the Ryzen AI Max 385 starts around $1,899.
Mid-Tier: Upgrading to the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 pushes the price to approximately $1,999.
Flagship: The top-tier Liquid-Cooled Edition with 128GB of RAM and maximum specs reaches up to $2,759.
Campaign Status: The project is currently live and has already surpassed its funding goal, raising over $600,000. It is scheduled to close on January 10, 2026.
Concept
The concept behind the Super X is "uncompromised convergence." Traditional 2-in-1s often sacrifice performance for portability or battery life. OneXPlayer aims to eliminate that trade-off by using a larger 85Wh battery and a cooling system borrowed from high-end gaming laptops. It is designed to be the only computer you need, capable of switching from a creative tablet to a AAA gaming rig in seconds.
Inspiration
The inspiration for the Super X is clear: the ASUS ROG Flow Z13. OneXPlayer saw the success of that form factor but identified key areas for improvement, specifically the screen technology and thermal limits. They wanted to build a "Z13 Killer" that offered the deep blacks of OLED and the sustained performance of a desktop, targeting enthusiasts who refuse to settle for "good enough" mobile performance.
