Versa58: The Pocket Icon You Know. Unlocked with Modularity.

Modular everyday carry system that introduces new tools and fidget-friendly functionality to 58mm SAKs, keychains, and pocket setups.

The Swiss Army Knife Evolved: Keyport Versa58

Everyone knows the classic 58mm Swiss Army Knife (SAK). It is the most ubiquitous pocket tool in history, but for decades, it has been frozen in time. If you wanted to customize it, you had to glue on new scales or accept that the tool you bought is the tool you are stuck with forever. Keyport is unlocking that potential with the Versa58, a system that turns the static SAK into a modular, magnetic, and fully customizable platform.

Project Overview

Name and Creator: Versa58: The Pocket Icon You Know. Unlocked with Modularity by Keyport, Inc.

What It Is: The Versa58 is a modular ecosystem designed specifically for the 58mm Swiss Army Knife platform (like the Victorinox Classic). It replaces the standard factory plastic scales with precision-machined aluminum or titanium scales. These new scales feature a proprietary "snap-on" interface and magnetic mounting points, allowing you to instantly attach or detach extra tools—like flashlights, pens, or flash drives—without using glue or permanently altering your knife.

Status: The project is currently active on Kickstarter.

Key Features

Snap & Lock Interface: Unlike traditional SAK mods that require glue or permanent press-fitting, the Versa58 scales use a reversible, tool-free snap mechanism. You can install them in seconds and remove them just as easily, keeping your original knife intact.

MagMount System: The scales feature integrated neodymium magnets. This allows you to stack modules together or stick the entire tool to a fridge, car hood, or workspace for hands-free utility.

Modular Expansions: Keyport has launched a suite of modules to clip onto the scales, including the "Pocket Flare" (a USB-C rechargeable light), a mini pen with a German Troika refill, and a USB-C 3.0 flash drive (up to 256GB).

Premium Materials: The system allows you to upgrade the feeling of your SAK with Grade 5 Titanium or 6061 Aluminum, replacing the cheap plastic feel of the original with rugged metal.

Fidget-Friendly: The magnetic connection isn't just secure; it creates a crisp, satisfying tactile snap that makes the tool fun to manipulate and reconfigure on the fly.

Rewards

Kickstarter Pricing: Backers can access "Super Early Bird" tiers offering up to 35% off the MSRP.

Options: Rewards range from the "Origin Bundle" (Scales + MagMounts) to the "Apex Bundle" (Scales + Light + Pen + Drive). There is also a limited "Founder's Bundle" featuring titanium components and custom packaging.

Delivery: The project is managed by Keyport, a veteran creator with four previous successful campaigns, and shipping will be handled from their Las Vegas headquarters.

Concept

The core concept is "Zero Commitment Modding." Keyport recognized that while the SAK 58mm is iconic, it lacks the adaptability of modern gear. They wanted to create a "canvas" that allows users to build the tool they need for the day—whether that's a simple knife, a digital storage device, or an emergency light—without being locked into a single configuration for life.

Inspiration

The Versa58 was born from a collaboration between Keyport and EDC expert Dominic Lodovichetti (MaxLvlEDC). During conversations about the constraints of traditional multi-tools, they realized that while the SAK 58mm was the perfect size, it had no way to evolve. Drawing on Keyport's decade of experience with modular key organizers, they engineered a way to bring their "Anywhere Tools" philosophy to the world's most popular pocket knife.
