Foldra-Folder Like Wireless Drive|Private Cloud|Pocket sized
Keychain-Sized Personal Pocket Cloud & Wireless Drive, Access Data Anywhere, end-to-end Encryption, and Full Customization.

If you are tired of losing access to your files when your internet drops or handing over your private data to subscription cloud services, a new campaign puts the server in your pocket. Launching on Kickstarter, Foldra is a keychain-sized personal cloud and wireless drive. By combining an AMOLED touchscreen, a built-in battery, and a private Wi-Fi network, it lets you carry, access, and share your data anywhere—completely offline.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Name and Creator Foldra - Folder Like Wireless Drive | Private Cloud | Pocket Sized by Hanry William.
What It Is Foldra is a ready-to-use, open-source personal cloud storage device that fits on a keychain. It generates its own private Wi-Fi network, allowing multiple devices to connect, upload, and download files simultaneously via a web browser without needing any internet connection, router, or third-party app.
KEY FEATURES
True Wireless Freedom Turn the device on, and it creates a local Wi-Fi hotspot in seconds. You simply connect your phone, tablet, or laptop to its network and navigate to foldra.local in your browser to manage your files via a clean, app-free dashboard.
AMOLED Touch Display Unlike standard external drives, Foldra features a 1.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen. You can tap and swipe to check battery life, view the connection status, manage built-in apps, and even browse photos directly on the device.
Instant QR Pairing You do not need to memorize network names or type passwords. To connect a new phone, you just tap "Share" on the Foldra screen, scan the displayed QR code with your phone camera, and you are instantly connected.
Multi-Device Collaboration Multiple nearby devices can connect to the Foldra library at the same time. You can upload a document from your laptop while someone else downloads vacation photos to their phone, all without passing a USB cable around.
Wired USB Mode If you prefer a traditional connection, plugging it into your computer via USB-C automatically switches it to USB mode, making it act exactly like a standard high-speed flash drive for drag-and-drop transfers.
Smart Security Your data is stored locally on an internal SD card, not on a remote server. You can remotely lock the device from your browser dashboard, and use a "Find My Foldra" feature to trigger a flashing light and siren if you misplace it in the house.
REWARDS
Kickstarter Pricing The project launched in October 2026 and quickly blasted past its initial funding goal. Early backers can secure a Foldra (including an SD card) for $89, which is a solid discount compared to standard retail.
Options Standard pledges secure the device in a choice of colors (Red, Blue, Black, White). There is also a $139 "Maker/API Edition" featuring a transparent casing and full SDK access for developers, as well as a personalized $179 Signature Edition with custom name engraving.
Delivery The campaign concludes on November 5, 2026. The creator is targeting fulfillment and shipping for the first quarter of 2027.
CONCEPT
The core concept is Data Sovereignty. The creator believes that your lifetime data should remain physically in your control, rather than being held hostage by monthly subscription fees and data center outages. By engineering a device that acts as an independent network node, they aim to give users the convenience of a modern cloud interface with the absolute privacy of a physical hard drive.
INSPIRATION
The project was inspired by the frustration of traveling. The creator noted how standard cloud storage becomes useless at 30,000 feet on an airplane or when working remotely off-grid. They wanted to build a device that bridges the gap between a standard flash drive (which is annoying to connect to modern smartphones) and a bulky desktop NAS (Network Attached Storage), ultimately shrinking a multi-user server down into a pocketable, battery-powered gadget.
