When a storm hits and the power goes out, the first thing most people worry about is the hundreds of dollars of food or vital medications spoiling in their refrigerator. Traditional portable power stations are bulky, requiring you to drag them into the kitchen and run extension cords in the dark. BLUETTI is aiming to solve this with the FridgePower, a dedicated, ultra slim battery backup designed to live permanently near or on top of your fridge. By acting as a specialized uninterruptible power supply, it seamlessly takes over the moment the grid fails, ensuring your food stays cold without any manual setup.

What It Is: The BLUETTI FridgePower is a sleek, plug and play battery backup system purpose built for household refrigerators and freezers. It provides automatic, uninterrupted power during blackouts to keep perishable food and temperature sensitive medications safe.


KEY FEATURES

  • Ultra Slim Profile: At just 2.95 inches thick, the unit is designed to lay flat on top of a standard refrigerator or slide into narrow gaps beside it, keeping it completely out of the way without sacrificing kitchen aesthetics.

  • Massive Power Capacity: The base unit packs 2,016Wh of energy and 1,800W of continuous output. This is enough to power an average refrigerator for over 21 hours on a single charge.

  • Expandable Endurance: For households in areas prone to extended outages, the system can be scaled up to 8,064Wh by connecting up to three BlueCell 200 expansion batteries, extending the total backup time to roughly four full days.

  • Smart UPS Functionality: The built in Uninterruptible Power Supply features a 10 millisecond switchover time. If the grid goes down, the FridgePower instantly takes over, so your appliance never resets or loses cooling.

  • Long Lasting and Quiet: Powered by automotive grade LiFePO4 battery cells, the system is rated for over 4,000 charge cycles, giving it a lifespan of more than a decade. It also operates at a whisper quiet 30 decibels, making it completely unobtrusive indoors.

  • App and Weather Integration: A companion app allows you to monitor energy usage and customize charging schedules. It also features extreme weather alerts that will automatically trigger the battery to fully charge ahead of incoming storms.

  • Kickstarter Pricing: Backers can secure the standalone FridgePower unit at a Super Early Bird price of 759 dollars. The FridgePower Plus bundle, which includes one expansion battery, is available for 1,398 dollars.

  • Options: Users can pledge for just the main unit, or scale up with multiple BlueCell 200 expansion batteries. Optional accessories include a magnetic smart display screen that attaches to the front of your fridge to monitor battery levels at a glance.

  • Delivery: The campaign runs through the end of May 2026. Because BLUETTI already has the system production ready, shipping to early backers is slated to begin in early June 2026, perfectly timed for summer storm outages.


CONCEPT

The core concept is Specialized Appliance Resilience. BLUETTI recognized that while whole home battery systems are incredibly expensive and DIY setups are too complex for the average consumer, everyone needs a reliable way to keep their fridge running. By shrinking high capacity batteries into an appliance style form factor, they created a highly focused, automated defense against grid instability that anyone can simply plug into the wall.


INSPIRATION

The project was inspired by the direct feedback of homeowners living in areas impacted by frequent hurricanes, wildfires, and severe winter weather. The team at BLUETTI noticed that users were primarily buying their large portable power stations simply to keep their refrigerators from thawing out. They were inspired to engineer a dedicated, space saving solution that could live in the kitchen full time, offering pure peace of mind when the lights suddenly go out.
