Scan books, documents, and objects in seconds — powered by AI, ultra-high resolution, and seamless multi-platform support.

If you are tired of bulky flatbed scanners taking up your entire workspace just to digitize large documents or books, Joyusing has designed a space-saving alternative. Launching on Kickstarter, the ScanMax 320 is billed as the world's first edge-of-desk portable A2 scanner. By combining a 32-megapixel ultra-HD sensor with a clever folding aluminum frame, it allows you to scan oversized materials and present documents in real time while freeing up 80 percent of your desk space.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Name and Creator ScanMax 320: The Portable A2 Scanner Reinvented by Joyusing.

What It Is The ScanMax 320 is a foldable, AI-powered document scanner and visual presenter. It sits right at the corner of your desk to digitize everything from standard receipts and books to massive A2-sized blueprints and artwork, all without the massive footprint of traditional overhead scanners.

KEY FEATURES

  • Edge-of-Desk Design The scanner mounts at the corner of your workspace, unlocking up to 80 percent more usable desk real estate. When you are done, its strong aluminum body folds down into an ultra-compact form factor (355 × 68 × 51 mm) that easily slides into a bag or drawer.

  • 32MP Ultra HD Sensor It features a massive 32-megapixel imaging system capable of scanning documents up to A2 size (594 × 420 mm) at incredibly sharp resolutions of up to 6528 × 4896.

  • AI Image Enhancement The companion software does the heavy lifting for you. It automatically flattens book curves, removes shadows, seamlessly crops and de-skews images, and even erases your fingers if you are holding pages down.

  • Powerful OCR Integration Built-in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) supports over 180 languages, allowing you to instantly convert physical pages into editable, searchable formats like Word or Excel.

  • Smart Illumination Engineered optical lenses are paired with a precision rectangular LED illumination system that provides even, shadow-free lighting with three adjustable brightness levels.

  • Dual-Mode Operation Beyond just scanning, the device functions as a real-time visual presenter. You can stream live video of documents, live drawings, or objects, making it an excellent tool for online teaching, meetings, and remote collaboration.

  • USB-C Plug-and-Play The scanner connects and receives power entirely through a single USB-C cable, keeping your desk setup clean and minimizing wire clutter.

REWARDS

  • Kickstarter Pricing Early backers can secure the ScanMax 320 at heavily discounted early bird prices, offering significant savings compared to the planned $649 retail MSRP (with early pledges dipping as low as $349).

  • Options Pledges include the main folding scanner unit, necessary cables, physical control buttons, and finger cots for book scanning.

  • Delivery The campaign is actively running through late summer 2026. Free shipping is available to backers in regular areas of the US and the EU. The creators will keep the community updated on final software optimization and fulfillment timelines.

CONCEPT

The core concept is Uncluttered Digitization. The creators at Joyusing believe that accessing professional-grade, large-format scanning should not require dedicating an entire table to a machine. By engineering a high-resolution camera system onto a sleek, folding arm that hovers from the edge of the desk, they aim to give students, architects, and home-office workers a powerful archiving tool that completely disappears when the job is done.

INSPIRATION

The project was heavily inspired by the rapidly shifting nature of modern workflows and remote work. The engineering team spent months gathering real user feedback, working through 17 different design iterations to perfect the form factor. They realized that while people still needed to scan large textbooks, legal documents, and detailed artwork, the traditional flatbed design was entirely incompatible with modern minimalist desks. They set out to build a "plug-and-play" device that balances industrial-grade optics with the ultimate portability of a folding desk lamp.
