Help us celebrate The Guild's upcoming 20th anniversary by making the most epic renfaire movie of all time!

If you are a fan of early internet culture and classic web series, one of the pioneers of digital storytelling is making a major comeback. Launching on Kickstarter, The Guild: Ren Faire'd is a feature-length reunion movie led by Felicia Day and the original cast of the hit 2007 web series The Guild. By bringing the beloved, socially awkward "Knights of Good" to a live-action Renaissance faire, the project aims to explore how nerd culture and the original characters have evolved over the past two decades.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Name and Creator The Guild: Ren Faire'd by Felicia Day.
What It Is The Guild: Ren Faire'd is a feature-length independent movie that reunites the original cast of the groundbreaking web series The Guild. The story pulls the iconic online gaming group out of their digital world and throws them into the physical chaos of a Renaissance faire to celebrate the franchise's upcoming 20th anniversary.
KEY FEATURES
The Original Cast Returns The movie brings back the original "Knights of Good" ensemble cast, led by Felicia Day as Cyd (Codex), alongside fan-favorite characters like Vork, Zaboo, and Bladezz, offering a nostalgic reunion for longtime fans.
A New Setting Moving away from their webcams and computer screens, the story places the notoriously awkward gaming group into an in-person, immersive Renaissance faire environment, providing a fresh comedic backdrop for their classic interpersonal dynamics.
Independent Production Rather than partnering with a traditional Hollywood studio, Felicia Day and the team chose to crowdfund the project. This ensures that the final movie retains the authentic, quirky tone that made the original web series so beloved by its community.
Community Driven Success The project was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, completely funding its initial $1.5 million goal within the first three hours of launching on Kickstarter.
REWARDS
Digital and Physical Access Backers can secure early digital access to the finished movie. The campaign is also offering a remastered Blu-Ray set of the original web series episodes, though the movie itself is currently prioritized as a digital release to ensure timely delivery to supporters.
Exclusive Merchandise Depending on the pledge tier, fans can receive Kickstarter-exclusive items like a unique popcorn bucket, custom enamel pins, and a full game bundle that includes a dedicated card game.
On-Set Experiences Higher-tier backers even have the opportunity to participate as extras during the filming of the movie, with location and shooting details to be finalized as production ramps up.
CONCEPT
The core concept is Nerd Culture Evolved. The creators believe that while nerd culture has exploded into the mainstream over the last twenty years, the awkward, passionate heart of The Guild remains timeless. By pulling the characters out of their MMO and placing them in a physical Renaissance faire, they aim to explore how the group has grown up (or failed to) while delivering a love letter to the fans who supported the show from the very beginning.
INSPIRATION
The project was inspired by the impending 20th anniversary of the original web series. Felicia Day noted that the cast had an incredible time reuniting to play games on Twitch during the COVID-19 pandemic, which sparked the desire to bring the characters back to the screen. Recognizing that the landscape of entertainment has changed drastically since 2007, the team turned to Kickstarter to fund the film directly through the community that first made The Guild a digital phenomenon.
